Child Lost

I looked into the big eyes
Of a little boy much lost
Beauty in the deep wells of brown
Was the first thing that I saw
A second glance let me see
Apprehension of “where am I”
He stood still just momentarily
Shoulders sagging with a sigh
So small, scared and all alone
Fear settled in his little mind
Looking everywhere but “up”
Maybe afraid of what he would find
Then a voice came loud and certain
We have a little boy lost in here
Knowing someone was searching for him
Seemed to have helped calm his fear
Watching him swept up with relief
In the arms of his father so strong
Nothing mattered at the moment but love
Knowing nothing worse had gone wrong
Sometimes I feel lost and abandoned
Wondering if anyone knows my fear
Then the arms of my Father, God
Closes around me and He whispers, “I’m here”
