Sound of Rain

Sometimes there are periods of time
When it seems like nothing is going on
It seems like all you have holding you together
Is just the fact you know God’s Son
Dry times have lasted for so long
A refreshing time seems so far away
But, suddenly in the midst of the heat
The sound of rain seems to be coming your way
The drought may finally be over
Existence may be more abundant than “bare”
The place where you have so longed for communion
God may just be bringing you there
His desire to show His power to you
May be the refreshing just on the brink
He is ready to prove that His way
Will never bring thirst after you drink
I am so ready to follow my God
He knows I have faithfully stood
My faithfulness that has seemed so feeble
I would improve its status if I could
Wisdom won’t let me live in the past
Staying there will surely destroy my peace
Living in the present like God says to do
Will cause much torment to cease
I have learned much in the dryness
God has really been my “everything”
Now is the time for me to shout His glory
And for me to let His praises ring
